Guest access on Android devices. How to delete the owner user on Android. How to delete a Google account on Android - several ways How to change the user on the network for Android

If you use an Android device compatible with other people, then using one account causes inconvenience, so it is advisable for each user to have a separate account. Luckily, Android supports multiple user profiles, allowing users to share one device without fear of leaking each other's data.

What are user profiles on Android?

If you have (or have ever used) a shared Windows PC, then you may already be familiar with this option: everyone logs in with their own username and password and opens their account along with their applications and settings.

Unfortunately, not many people know that Android has a very similar feature called User Profiles. This is more advanced functionality than just adding a second Google account - it's a completely different profile, with its own apps, settings, wallpapers, etc. It looks like two systems are running on one device. When you add a new profile, it will go through the entire setup process, just as you would if you were adding a completely new device.

However, there is a drawback: performance. In short, the more users installed on one phone, the lower the performance. Of course, all applications installed on different profiles will work effectively, since when you use them on the main account, the others simply continue to work in the background.

So, the more apps you have installed in each profile, the worse the performance will be - just something to keep in mind if you plan on creating very many profiles on a single tablet.

How to Set Up User Profiles on Android

Creating a new user profile is enough easy task, you just need to take a few steps. To do this, your device must have Android OS installed with Lollipop (Android 5.0) and higher, as well as on tablets with KitKat (Android 4.4.). The tablets also offer exclusive “Limited Profile” functionality for shared devices with children.

Note. This option may not be available on all devices. Some manufacturers, such as Samsung, are removing it from their phones.
To add a user you need to go to the settings of your phone; for this there are two ways: you can simply pull the top menu down and click on the gear there, or simply find the settings icon on the desktop of your smartphone.

Then look for the item “Users” or “Users and accounts", then click on "Users".

To add a new account, simply click on the "New User" button. A dialog box will appear asking you to confirm adding a new user.

On tablets, you'll be asked to choose whether you want to add a regular account or restrict it to children.

At this point you can select a new user. If you decide to set it up now, you will immediately “log out” of the existing profile and go to the setup menu for the new one.

Then you will see a window with the capabilities of this profile. Once you continue, the process of adding a new device will begin from scratch.

The first thing you need to do is log into your account. Google entry and carry out standard phone settings.

By default, calls and text messages will be disabled in the new user profile. To activate them, log into your administrator account (instructions for switching profiles below) and go to the Users menu again. Click the switch next to the new user, and then turn on the “Enable phone calls and SMS” option.

How to switch between profiles

To switch profiles, double-tap the notification icon and tap the user icon. On Android Nougat and below, this icon is at the top of the bar. On Oreo, this option is at the bottom.

Once you activate the profile icon, you will be presented with a list of current users. Click on the one you need.

How to delete a user profile

If you no longer need multiple profiles on one device, you can easily remove additional users. Unfortunately, there is no way to remove the administrator account, which will always be used during the initial setup process, so you cannot transfer the device to a new user and make him an administrator. So, if something goes wrong, you just need to restore your phone to factory settings.

Note. Only from the administrator account you can delete profiles.

To remove any additional profiles, simply go to the Users menu and tap the gear icon with the user's name. There, select “Delete user”.

This will delete the account and all data associated with it.

Application cloning functions are already present in some Android shells by default, but usually they can only be used for popular ones. social networks. That is why it is better to use specialized tools for such purposes.

With their help, it is convenient to use several accounts not only in various instant messengers and online services, but also in many games. This is especially true where it is important to have at least one friend to achieve new levels.

Parallel Space

App Cloner

In this application, clones work in parallel and completely independently of the original games and programs. They are not automatically updated, which means you can save if necessary old version application and use it just like the new one.

For clones, detailed icon settings are available with the ability to change the color, rotate it, or add an icon on top. The Premium version provides options for data protection with a password, incognito mode and a ban on the use of mobile networks for duplicate applications.

The ability to change user accounts first appeared in Android 4.2 for tablets. The implementation at that time, however, was quite standard, similar to Windows. However key point was the lack of smartphone support. On the one hand, why not give this opportunity to all users? On the other hand, how often have you met people who owned one device at a time?

Therefore, other than “let it be,” we did not find any other reasons for the appearance of this function in Android for smartphones. By the way, for the first time in smartphones the ability to add a user appeared with the release of Android Lollipop, that is, relatively recently. Today we will look at how to add a user, but the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come to our aid.

In order to add a new user, you need to open the curtain with quick settings, click on the icon at the top right with the image of a person. After which the user selection window will literally spread across the entire screen (thanks to material effects). According to the standard, there are two accounts here: yours and, accordingly, “Guest”.

The latter is quite useful if you need to provide someone with a smartphone for testing or for personal use for a fairly long period of time. The peculiarity of the guest profile is that each time you log in again, the smartphone will display a window asking you to continue the session. The user can choose either “Yes, continue” or “Start over”.

If the second person will use your smartphone constantly, the best solution will be adding a new user. To do this, click on “Add a new user”, after which a window will appear with the setting that everyone is used to seeing when they turn on the smartphone for the first time, that is, we are talking about the initial setting, but for a different user.

Let us separately note the interesting organization of memory. The Storage and USB section shows a detailed analysis of the current user's used space, but at the very end it also shows the total megabyte consumption of the various users. It looks something like this:

Owners of Android smartphones sometimes give their gadgets to other people to use. They may borrow your phone to make calls, check emails, or send SMS.

When handing over a phone to strangers, its owner is usually worried that the guest will not see his personal information: Internet banking data; balance in applications used for online purchases; information contained in the account used in the application for playing cards or other personal information.

Many of us trust our electronic devices with personal information: private correspondence, photographs, financial secrets, and so on. No one wants to share such information with strangers.

However, you are also unlikely to like standing over your friends and relatives looking at your smartphone and not taking your eyes off them. Today there are already more convenient and effective methods from prying eyes, you can limit access to data on your smartphone or tablet.

The “Guest Access” feature will allow you to safely lend your smartphone to other people, preventing them from accessing your personal data, SMS messages and settings.

Guest mode on an Android smartphone will block access to your email and applications, and will also prevent you from viewing those materials associated with your account (for example, downloaded files and photos). Only the owner of the smartphone can add a new user in Guest mode.

Guest Mode Features

Guest mode on Android works with version 5.0 and higher. This mode allows the device owner to configure the list of operations that a guest can perform on his phone.

For example, if you give a mobile device to your child and only allow him to play certain games, you can completely block access to other applications, as well as SMS messages and contacts. This application can serve as an analogue of the children's mode.

Each user can install a specific list of applications that he can use.

The mode is activated as follows:

  • Open the notification panel and click on your avatar located in the upper right corner.
  • 3 icons will appear in front of you: “Your Google Account”, “Add User” and “Add Guest”. Click on the “Add Guest” icon.
  • Now you need to choose which guest will use your smartphone - a permanent one or a new one. If you indicate that the guest is new, then after changing the mode, all data saved in it will be automatically deleted. If you select a permanent guest, the data will be saved.
  • To close guest mode, you can simply remove the guest from the list of users (the “Delete Guest” key). After this, yours will be activated (before activating the main account, the system will ask you to confirm access rights by entering a password, fingerprint or other information).

How to easily set up guest mode on Android?

The owner of the smartphone has the opportunity to configure for each guest a list of actions that the user can perform in guest mode, as well as create a list of applications that the guest can use. It's similar in functionality to parental control apps.

For example, to allow a guest to send SMS messages and make calls, go to “Settings”, then select “Users”, click on the guest’s name, activate the settings button and check the box next to “Allow SMS and calls”. Other functions that the guest can perform are also configured.

There is also software configuration. The above features are supported only in mobile devices running on the operating system. Android system 5.0 or higher.

On devices that run on earlier versions of the OS, guest mode can be configured using applications.

The principle of operation of such applications is the ability to use a password for all actions. Using such applications, you can block both the activation of certain applications and various actions, for example, purchasing content in the Play Store.

These programs support the ability to create profiles, which allows you to configure each profile with its own list of actions allowed by the smartphone owner. These applications are installed on Android starting from version 2.1, so they will work on almost all devices.

Multiple Accounts

A simple application that differs minimum set settings. You can only create one duplicate, but there is practically no advertising.

App Cloner

The application is interesting because the clones work completely independently of the “originals”. There is advanced functionality for customizing the icon to your taste. The application is free, but there is also an additional Premium mod that gives access to incognito mode, password protection of data and some other features.
